Josh Friend

Counsellor & Psychotherapist (MBACP)

About

I'm an MBACP counsellor & psychotherapist providing online therapy for adults navigating anxiety, low mood, stress, or relationship difficulties. My integrative approach combines person-centred and psychodynamic therapy: sessions are collaborative and paced by you, while we make sense of how earlier experiences and patterns may be shaping the present. My style is warm, steady, and down-to-earth. We’ll start by understanding what’s bringing you to therapy and what would feel like a meaningful change. I have eight years’ experience working in student mental health across UK and US universities and an MA in Student Development in Higher Education. I prioritise diversity and inclusion and recognise that mental health is influenced by culture, identity, and lived experience.Having lived and worked in three countries, I aim to provide a respectful, non-judgemental space where all parts of you are welcome. Sessions last 50 minutes and take place on Google Meet. I work to the BACP Ethical Framework and receive regular clinical supervision. If you’re new to therapy, I’ll explain what to expect and we’ll go at a pace that feels right for you. You’re welcome to email me with any questions.
